One week later... :)

As you can all tell, I don't keep up on my blog, especially with how busy I am now :) I am writing my second post for my Doctrine and Covenants class. This week we read and studied D&C sections 6-9 and 11-13.

Choice #2 (for sections 6-9, 11-13):

Find, reference, and explain 10 cause and effect (if then) scripture passages in these sections. You should also take time to personalize one of the cause and effect passages. What do some of these cause and effect scriptures reveal to you about the nature of God?

  1. If we desire to reap, and thrust in our sickle with our might, and reap while the day lasts, then we are called to the work and our souls may have everlasting salvation in the kingdom of God. D&C 6:4. If we have a desire to teach, and we teach with everything we know, and receive more inspiration, then we are called his missionaries and may have salvation in the kingdom of God (if we do all else that is required of us).

  2. If you ask, then you shall receive. D&C 6:5. This one is blatantly obvious, if we ask, then we shall receive.

  3. If you knock, then it will be opened unto. D&C 6:5. This tells me that if we are searching for answers, about life, work, school, even what clothes to wear and we knock, sincerely search for the answers, then we will find the answers we need.

  4. If thou wilt do good (and hold out faithful to the end) then thou shalt be saved in the kingdom of God (which is the greatest of all the gifts of God; for there is no gift greater than the gift of salvation.) D&C 6:13. This one is also pretty self explanatory. If we do our best and our faithful, we will have the opportunity to be saved in the kingdom of God.

  5. If you study something out in your mind and ask Him if it is right, then (if it is right) He will cause that your bosom shall burn within you and you will feel that it is right. D&C 6:22.

  6. If we ask in faith, with an honest heart, believing that we shall receive knowledge concerning the truth, then he will give us knowledge through revelation and study. D&C 8:1.

  7. If you seek answers with true faith, then He will manifest truth unto you, and be able to tell you His mysteries. Remember that without faith you can do nothing. D&C 8:10

  8. If you study something out in your mind, then ask Him if it is right, then (if it is NOT right) you shall have not burn in your bosom and you will have a stupor of thought and forget the thing which is wrong. D&C 9:8

  9. If we repent and keep His commandments then we will be blessed. D&C 11:9

  10. If we have the desire, and are: humble, full of love, have faith, hope, and charity, are temperate in all things, the we are qualified to assist in the Lord's work. D&C 12:7-9

These are relatively ALL self-explanatory, so I won't go into much more detail. Something that I really liked about these if/then statements from the scriptures, is that they can almost all be applicable to >me<. A lot of these if/then statements that I found usually had a promise: If we do something then the Lord will give us something to bless us or help us. These all tell me that if we actually want to know something, and try to find the answer for ourselves, then He will bless us more than we can imagine. I also felt very impressed that the Lord give us struggles and trials on his time (which we all know) but that he really does know when to succor us as well. He loves us so much and I know there is nothing He wouldn't do (and hasn't already done) for us.

  1. These are great scriptures. I really appreciate you posting them especially now as I search for answers and prepare to receive my patriarcal blessing. These scriptures are very reassuring. Thank you.

  2. Justine! I love this. I love those scriptures as well. I especially love D&C 6:20 where it says the Lord will encircle me with the arms of His love. The scriptures you posted about are so true, we have to do our part (the 'if' statement) if we want to receive the help and blessings from the lord that we need. He will help us! He loves us all and He loves YOU! Justine, you're wonderful! Good luck with school, love Heather.
